Densus 88 nabs 11 terrorism suspects in Sumatra

Jakarta, IO – Densus 88 anti-terror squad arrested 11 people is Sumatra in a preventive raid, announced National Police (Polri) spokesperson Gen. Dedi Prasetyo.

While he refused to reveal the identity of the 11 arrested, he said the arrests were made as part of an effort to ensure security during Christmas and New Year, reported Jawa Pos, Monday (19/12).

“This is part of the ‘candlelight operation’ and anticipatory measures to provide security during Christmas and New Year celebrations. Unit heads of Densus 88 in the regions will continue to detect potential terrorist acts by conducting preventive strike.”

Dedi asked the public to remain calm and put their trust in the ability of Polri and relevant authorities to provide security during the festive season. (un)
