Denpasar Immigration Deports Ukrainian Boy Who Wandered Aimlessly at Ubud

Jakarta, IO – The boy, identified as AK, 7, went viral after he was often spotted seen wandering around at Ubud, Bali, bare-chested and barefoot. The boy, whom the locals nicknamed Kocong, was sent back to his home country with his mother SB.

Denpasar Immigration head Ridha Sah Putra said his office detained two foreign nationals on Thursday (1/8) before deporting them back to their country.

“We have written to the embassy to facilitate the repatriation and deportation process,” said Ridha, per Antaranews, Mon (5/8).

Ridha explained that accrding to SB’s account she was no longer able to support her child so she let the boy wander around aimlessly in the residential area.

Kocong even brought a sharp weapon and climbed onto the roof of someone’s house, endangering himself and the residents. This caused a sense of unease among the locals. Out of pity, several residents took the initiative to provide them temporary shelter.

Based on Denpasar Immigration data, they entered Indonesian via Soekarno Hatta International Airport on December 23, 2023. Their stay permits expired on January 21, 2024, meaning they had exceeded their stay permits by 191 days. (un)
