Liquids that Contain Electrolytes

The patient should be taken to the doctor immediately if they show the following warning signs: intense nausea, vomiting, headache, muscular and joint pains, pain behind the eyes or extreme feebleness. “Another warning sign that only appears after laboratory testing is a thrombocyte number of fewer than 100,000. Hospitals have fluid monitoring and satisfaction protocols in place. This is because dehydration is critical and may threaten the life of patients, especially children and the elderly. Increase consumption of liquids, make sure that the patient urinates at least once every four hours. Give them liquids that contain electrolytes, whether the old salt and sugar mixture, water used for washing rice, or water infused with dates,” dr. Robert said.

The patient may return home and continue treatment outside the hospital when their thrombocyte count is 150,000. “As dengue fever is an environmental illness, remember the water-related prevention measures: dry up any puddled water, drain possible containers from water and cover them up, and bury possible rubbish around your home. Please be extra vigilant, because dengue cases rise as the rain falls,” dr. Robert said. “Other than keeping your environs clean, prevent dengue fever by improving your immunity: consume nutritious foods, have enough rest, and perform physical exercises routinely.” (est)
