Delivering medications to telemedicine patients

Jakarta, IO – The use of digital technology in the health sector goes far toward enabling people to access health services, no matter where they are or their mobility. As an agency formed by the government to administer the JKN Program, BPJS Kesehatan has developed telemedicine so that JKN participants throughout Indonesia can more easily access credible health services, without being constrained by geographical or non-geographical conditions. In order to support its success, PT Good Doctor Technology Indonesia (Good Doctor) and BPJS Kesehatan have concluded an agreement to provide delivery services for medications distribution in a telemedicine trial by the National Health Insurance Program (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional/JKN).

During this trial, Good Doctor will provide free drug delivery facilities for the first delivery to 20 FKTP points and pharmacies in Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Palembang, South Jakarta, Tangerang, Tigaraksa, Cirebon, Cimahi, Sukabumi, Tegal, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Pasuruan, Denpasar and Serang. Prescription medicines will be delivered directly to the doorstep of a JKN participant’s home within one hour at a radius of 5-8 km. To date, there are 100 FKTPs in Non-Remote and Remote Areas that have benefited from telemedicine services. This service has also been utilized by 117 hospitals, 62 pharmacies and Puskesmas pharmacy rooms spread across Indonesia.

“Communities in certain areas, such as in the 3T area (frontier, remote, and underdeveloped areas) have not been able to enjoy the benefits of health facilities, because of limited access. This obstacle to access to health facilities can be caused by geographical factors, transportation or the unavailability of health facilities that suit the needs of the community. Through telemedicine, BPJS Kesehatan tries to answer these challenges,” said Mahlil Ruby, Director of Planning, Development and Risk Management at BPJS Kesehatan
