Defense Minister discusses plan to build hospitals in several regions

Jakarta, IO – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto discussed plans to build military hospitals and healthcare facilities in urban and remote areas on Thursday (25/8). Prabowo said the plan aims to provide adequate healthcare services for armed forces personnel and the general public.

Several locations have been earmarked, including Timika, Manokwari, Sorong, Gorontalo, Mamuju, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda and Atambua.

Not only in eastern Indonesia, the hospitals will also be built in the western part such as Pangkalpinang, Padang, Pontianak, Sorong, Surabaya, Malang, Pekanbaru and Bandung.

“The construction needs to be well-planned, including with regard to human resources,” Prabowo said, as per Defense Ministry website, Friday (26/8).

The healthcare facilities construction will be focused on Type 4 hospitals with 100 to 200 beds.

“This is very important because having adequate healthcare facilities can be a morale booster for the TNI,” he concluded. (un)
