IO – Danone Indonesia and the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI) have combined forced to provide 24,000 bottles of mineral water, to supply the drinking water needs in the Government’s Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Jakarta quarantine center. The mineral water is sponsored by the two parties, to anticipate the needs of water supply logistics amid the soaring numbers or quarantine patients following to the Omicron surge.

As of December 18, 2021, Wisma Atlet required four thousand bottles of mineral water; meanwhile, the average daily increase in quarantine patient numbers was around two thousand per day.

“With a current number of 526 Omicron virus patients, dominated by cases returning from overseas, a supply of clean mineral water will help the people undergoing their quarantine in Wisma Atlet, and keep them hydrated,” explained Chairman of the ILUNI UI, Andre Rahadian, in a written statement.

Andre further continued, reporting that the cooperation between ILUNI UI and Danone Indonesia was not their first: the two worked together positively in vaccination programs in 2021. “Sentra Vaksinasi Sinergi Sehat” ran from July to September 2021. “In every contribution from ILUNI UI, we have always strived to embrace stakeholders from Government, the private sectors, UI alumni, and other organizations. In the future, the National Cohesion concept will involve more parties in the effort to fight the pandemic and improve the lives of Indonesian people,” he added.

Deputy Chairperson of the ILUNI UI Community Development Center, Dr Ray Wagiu Basrowi, commended the ILUNI UI collaboration with Danone Indonesia. He hopes for even broader cooperation in the future. “The pandemic has affected all aspects of life. We hope ILUNI UI and Danone Indonesia will participate in the community and environmental empowerment to support those recovering, following the pandemic,” he said.

Simultaneously, as VP General Secretary of Danone Indonesia, Vera Galuh Sugijanto expressed her appreciation to the ILUNI UI in Wisma Atlet logistics efforts. She welcomes future partnership with ILUNI UI, in the campaign to tackle COVID-19.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Danone Indonesia has been committed to supporting the Government and cooperated with many parties to provide aid and helps to distribute various medical devices in all 92 vaccination centers. With the current Omicron variant, we fully support the Government by exerting all efforts and welcome all social elements to anticipate the new variant: keeping our body hydrated is one of the keys,” stated Vera. She urged the need to cooperate with more parties to overcome and recover the welfare of the Indonesian people.

She also emphasized that cooperation with various parties is needed, so that the spread of new variants can be overcome and the welfare of the Indonesian people can quickly be restored.
