Dabi Air aircraft skids off runway in Intan Jaya, pilot and passengers injured


Jakarta, IO – Dabi Air’s Pilatus PK-DPP aircraft skidded and crashed into a hill at Kogapa airfield, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency in Central Papua, Thu (7/12). Three people including the pilot were injured in the incident.

Papua Regional Police spokesperson Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo revealed that the plane was carrying five passengers and two crew and was piloted by Captain Irela and co-pilot Hendri, per Kompas, Friday (8/12).

The plane flew from Douw Aturure Nabire Airport at around 9.55am WIT. It is suspected that the plane landed on a wet, slippery runway.

Benny confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident. However, three people including the pilot were injured. “Currently, the victim who suffered injuries are being treated by the medical team,” said Benny.

Meanwhile, Intan Jaya Police chief Superintendent Afrizal Asri revealed that the airplane suffered damage to its propeller and front wheel.

“The police are investigating this case in coordination with the airline and airport to find out the definitive cause of the accident. This incident should serve as a warning for the relevant authorities to ensure flight safety in the area,” he said. (rr)
