Jakarta, IO – House Speaker Puan Maharani asked the government and the House of Representatives to be “progressive” in wrapping up the discussion of the Personal Data Protection (PDP) bill. She made this comment in response to the statement by the US Department of State accusing Covid tracing app PeduliLindungi of violating human rights.

“If the PDP law is passed, and all users of personal data are supervised by an independent body, not under the ministry, of course this accusation of privacy violation would be easier to disprove, and would not generate controversy in the community,” said Puan in an official statement on Monday (18/4).

According to her, the accusation from the US cannot be ignored because it has created public anxiety.
