Jakarta, IO – Cooperatives and SMEs Minister Teten Masduki said almost all ministries/agencies have the same program to eradicate extreme poverty, mostly by training them to become an entrepreneur. The majority of those in this group are uneducated, unemployed and disabled.

In his view, this is not the right solution. The government should create more jobs that can accommodate them. One way to do this is to empower the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) because this sector often recruit those living in extreme poverty, reported Merdeka, Wednesday (22/2).

“If we can help MSMEs absorb more workers, this will go a long way in reducing extreme poverty,” said Teten. (un)
