Jakarta, IO – Dende Mandalika book which tells the story of the Legend of Mandalika was recognized by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) during an award ceremony organized by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (Kemenparekraf) at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/5).
Taufan Rahmadi, tourism industry observer and head of the book compilation team, explained that the reason the book won the Muri record was because it involved many sources, including traditional and cultural figures.
“The first book in a super-priority tourism destination that involves the most traditional and cultural leaders in a collaboration to convey the collective memory from generation to generation on the legend of Mandalika,” said Taufik, reported Detik.com.
Taufik and his team thoroughly compiled the Mandalika story for five months by combining various texts and discussions with knowledgeable sources.
Behind the famous Denda Mandalika folklore from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), there are important values and life story of Princess Mandalika that are relevant for the development of creative industries, such as clothing, food, games, architecture and music.
“This book comes from the intention to preserve legendary folklore. We hope that it can become a medium for introducing the figure of Princess Mandalika to the world, so that it will become a cultural legacy that will be remembered for generations, not only in Indonesia but also globally,” he wished.
