Jakarta, IO – Communications and Information Minister Johnny G Plate has been named a suspect in alleged corruption case related to the construction of base transceiver station (BTS) project which caused a state loss of Rp8 trillion, Wednesday (17/5).
Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) immediately detained Johnny after he was questioned this morning. Johnny was escorted out of AGO building wearing a detainee vest and handcuffed, reported Tirto.
Johnny is also NasDem Party secretary general. The case that landed him in hot water relates to the project to provide 4G BTS infrastructure support infrastructure as part of the Kominfo BAKTI program for the 2020-22 period.

This program aimed to provide digital services access in 9,133 frontier, outermost and underdeveloped villages. However, in the planning and bidding, there were indications of irregularities and manipulations.
So far, AGO has named five suspects in the case, including BAKTI director Anang Achmad Latif. (un)
