Clash between community organizations breaks out in Bekasi

Jakarta, IO – The brawl, the scene of which was widely circulated on social media, happened on Wednesday (20/9) in Setu, Bekasi Regency.

After it subsided for a while, it broke out again in Bantargebang, Bekasi City, per CNNIndonesia, Thursday (21/9).

Bekasi City Police Chief Commissioner Dani Hamadani said the clash between two mass organizations was triggered by the towing of a debt collector’s car. However, Dani did not explained it in detail.

Dani said that the incident had been handled by the police but did not elaborate what steps the police will take against those involved. However, he said some victims were rushed to hospital.

The clash took place in the middle of a road. A number of people were seen carrying melee weapons such as wooden sticks. The situation appeared tense and causing disturbance to traffic and public activities around the location. (un)
