Jakarta, IO – The Citayam Fashion Week phenomenon in Jakarta has now spread to several cities in Indonesia – Surabaya, Medan, Makassar – just to name a few.
Makassar Fashion Week takes place at the Center Point of Indonesia. There, a bunch of teenagers gathered, dressing and strutting like fashion models at a crosswalk, CNN Indonesia reported on Monday (25/7).
The activity involved people of all ages. Some walked on the “catwalk,” others simply watched and enlivened the event.

One of the participants of Makassar Fashion Week, Rahman, said that the activity had just started out and was attended by many participants. He said the fashion show takes place every weekend because it attracted many people.
Besides Makassar, young people in Surabaya also held the same activity. Centred on Tunjungan St., a number of young people initiated similar event inspired by Citayam Fashion Week. But it also drew protest from many irked motorists even though they only cross it on a red light. (un)
