One of the traditional principles that they still adhere to from generation to generation is veneration of rice, which is considered a source of life. If someone sells their rice, it means they are selling their life. That’s why they only sell fruits, vegetables and livestock.
As much as 10 percent of the rice harvest will be stored in leuit (rice barns) as stock. Leuit is shaped like a mini-sized house which is also made of bamboo. It’s no wonder that in this barn there is decades-old rice. It is estimated that the stock will be sufficient to support the community for the next 5-6 years if crops fail.
Even though they grow and consume their own rice and visited by many visitors, they have never run out of rice. Ciptagelar villagers believe that God will always provide and good fortune will remain. (Umamah)
