IO – The Embassy of China to Indonesia celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at Hotel Mulia on Sunday September 29, 2019. The National Day festivities are attended by representatives from neighboring countries, representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as dignitaries from China and Indonesia.
The Ambassador of China to Indonesia, H.E. Xiao Qian, in his opening remarks welcomed all the guests and invited them to join in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of China’s National Day. He also expressed his delight at the increased cooperation between the two countries which had continued to increase significantly, as he hoped that the diplomatic relations between the two countries would continue to expand.
The National Day (Chinese 国庆节; pinyin: guóqìng jié), which is officially the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, is annually celebrated on October 1, 1949 during the later years of the Chinese Civil War and the Kuomintang retreat to Taiwan. Legal holidays for Chinese National Day are 3 days in mainland China, 2 days in Macau, and 1 day in Hongkong. On the mainland, the 3 days are usually connected with the weekend ahead and afterwards; therefore, the public could enjoy a 7-day holiday from October 1st to 7th, which is the so called ‘Golden Week’ because the public holiday falls in autumn season with clear weather and comfortable temperatures.
Meanwhile the President of China Xi Jinping At the Reception in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of The Founding of the People’s Republic of China stated “Here on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, I pay high tribute to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups and all CPC members, to officers and men of the People’s Liberation Army and members of the armed police, and to all the other political parties and personages with no party affiliations in China! I wish to convey sincere greetings to fellow Chinese in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, in Taiwan and residing abroad! I also wish to express heartfelt thanks to all the countries and international friends who have given support and help to the development of New China!” (ohw)
