“Especially in the form of massive art installations, sculptures, performance, video recordings, photography, drawings, and materials related to performance art,” explained Liviani.
Chiharu Shiota was born in Osaka, 1972. She currently lives in Berlin. Her inspiration often comes from personal experiences or emotions which she develops into universal human concerns such as life, death and relationships. She has redefined the concepts of memory and consciousness by collecting everyday objects such as shoes, keys, beds, chairs, and dresses covered in enormous thread structures.

She also explores the sensation of ‘existence in nothingness’ through her works, as well as presenting intangible emotions in the form of sculpture, drawing, video performance, photography and canvas.
Shiota’s most famous work is a series of massive scale installations of red and black threads that fill the entire room. (rr)
