Jakarta, IO – Erman Umar, the lawyer of Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal (RR), said his client should be designated a witness, not a suspect in the premeditated murder of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat (Brigadier J). According to him, RR is a victim because he could not refuse the order from his superior, CNN Indonesia reported on Friday (9/9).
He revealed that Ricky was shocked upon learning the plan. He said his client was suddenly involved in the shooting of Brigadier J.
Her said his client admitted that he participated in Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo’s cover-up scenario because he was afraid of him as his superior. “RR only had the courage to speak honestly regarding the chronology of the incident after being asked by his family,” Erman said.
“We can also see that many police officers are involved because they follow the order from their superior,” explained Erman.

Police have named five suspects in the case: Ferdy Sambo and his wife Putri Candrawati, 2nd patrolman Richard Eliezer, Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal and Kuat Ma’ruf.
All of them have taken part in the crime scene reenactment at Ferdy Sambo’s official residence in South Jakarta. (un)
