BCL started her entertainment career by modeling for HAI magazine. Soon after she became a “Hai Girl” (“Cewek Hai”), including for Jikustik’s hit video clip, Seribu Tahun Lamanya (“For A Thousand Years”), in 1999. After a supporting stint as Little Sri in the TV drama Bukan Perempuan Biasa (“No Ordinary Woman”) in 1997, she got her first major acting part in the teen TV series 7 Tanda Cinta (“7 Signs of Love”).

In 2004, BCL started singing professionally, as PAS Band’s featuring singer. Since then, she decided to focus on the music industry and went on to pen multiple hits. She collaborates with top musicians from Indonesia and abroad, including Christian Bautista and the late Julio Iglesias. She debuted as a movie actress as the main lead in Cinta Pertama (“First Love”). Never doing anything halfway, she also released her original song, Cinta Pertama (Sunny) (“First Love (Sunny)”) as a film soundtrack at the same time. The song catapulted her into becoming one of Indonesia’s superstars and singing sensations.

On 8 November 2008, Bunga married Ashraf Sinclair, a British-Malaysian actor. Their wedding reception was held in the tradition of their two cultures – Minangkabau (hers) and Malay (his) – in both their countries: the former in Jakarta (9 November 2008), while the latter in Malaysia on 14-15 November 2008. Now a married woman, she continues to develop both her singing and acting talents, with the full support of her beloved husband. This is made evident in their joint role in the Saus Kacang (“Peanut Sauce”) romance film in 2008. Not only did they act together: BCL even sang its soundtrack, with Ashraf making his appearance in the video clip. On 22 September 2010, she gave birth to their son, Noah Aidan Sinclair. Unfortunately, their blissful marriage was brief, as Ashraf died of a heart attack on 18 February 2020. (rp)
