Jakarta, IO – Hundreds of Buddhists from Greater Jakarta celebrated the Vesak Day in Kemayoran, Jakarta, Sunday (28/5).

They held the Pindapata (collecting alms) procession where 63 monks walked along Benyamin Sueb Street carrying bowls to receive alms in the form of foods and other basic needs from the Buddhists standing along the way. It is believed that this will help Buddhists gain inner peace, as well as cleanse them from greed, stinginess and hatred.

The event was also liven up by performances such as lion dance to entertain the local residents and bystanders, especially the Buddhists who had been waiting along the Benyamin Sueb Street since the morning. (IO/Septo Kun Wijaya)
