Jakarta, IO – It took murdered Police Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat (“Brigadier J”) an arduous seven years to complete his undergraduate program, according to his father Samuel Hutabarat.

“He started in 2015, and was supposed to have graduated in 2019 before he was reassigned to Jakarta from Jambi Police Department’s Brimob (Mobile Brigade) unit. Due to busier schedule, his study go delayed for up to seven years,” Samuel told Observerid.com at the Open University graduation ceremony held at the UTCC building, Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang, Tuesday (23/8).

“Early last year, he told me he would graduate in June but the graduation ceremony was deferred to August. He told me he wanted to pursue a master’s degree as he received an achievement award, a gold pin, in 2020 from then police chief Idham Aziz. This allowed him to apply for an advanced officer program. We were very supportive of his plan,” said Samuel.

Samuel said his family really looks up to the police institution, as Brigadier J’s brothers and sisters also serve in the force.
