Jakarta, IO – Sorrow befell the Indonesia Forward cabinet. One of President Joko Widodo’s aides, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) Minister Tjahjo Kumolo passed away on Friday (1/7) at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Jakarta.
The news has been confirmed by PDI-P politician Junimart Girsang. He said Tjahjo Kumolo died around 11.10 WIB.
Tjahjo Kumolo has been treated in intensive care unit at the hospital. His daughter Rahajeng Widyaswari confirmed to Detik on Sunday (26/6) that he suffered from an infection that had spread to his lungs.
Tjahjo is a PDI-P cadre who previously served as the party’s secretary general. He resigned from this position in 2014 after being appointed President Jokowi to join his cabinet as the home minister.
In Jokowi’s second term, he was again trusted to serve as the PAN RB minister. Before joining PDI-P, Tjahjo was a Golkar cadre. He was also noted as the former chairman of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI). Tjahjo was born on December 1, 1957. (rr)
