BMKG alerts people of Freddy tropical cyclone impact in 6 regions

Jakarta, IO – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to the people in six regions of Indonesia to be aware of the activity of tropical cyclone Freddy which can potentially trigger heavy rains, strong winds and high waves in several parts of the country.

BMKG Deputy Director Guswanto said the tropical cyclone would have an indirect impact on the weather in Indonesia in the next 24 hours, causing moderate to heavy rain.

“Accompanied by strong winds of more than 25 knots, it may affect Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and Yogyakarta,” he said, reported Republika, Thursday (9/2).

High waves up to 1.25-2.5 meters may also affect the western and southern part of the Sunda Strait, the southern waters of Banten to West Java, the southern waters of Bali to Sumba.
