Similarly, according to an NPR/ PBS NewsHour/Marist survey issued at the end of February, 56 percent of respondents thought Biden’s first year in office was a “failure,” while just 39 percent thought the first year was a “failure.” successful. Of course, the situation surrounding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was mostly ignored in this survey.

With Putin sending soldiers to Ukraine, at least two surveys have been conducted directly on the subject. According to the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, 64% of respondents believed Biden was “too friendly” to Russia, 31% thought he was exactly right, and 5% thought he was too severe. According to a CBS News survey, 41 percent of respondents were pleased with Biden’s handling of the Ukraine crisis. Given that the first survey was somewhat earlier than the second, it is reasonable to infer that Biden has gained ground in this respect, maybe due to Russia’s slower advance in Ukraine.

Every day, the 538 website gathers multi-party data for detailed review, and it has documented a historic new low in Biden’s public popularity. Among them, thorough data on February 27 revealed that Biden’s public opinion satisfaction dropped to 40.4 percent, which is very near to breaking over the 40 percent defense barrier.

Later, when the situation in Russia and Ukraine improved (from the standpoint of the United States), it reached a peak of 43 percent on March 13, but then began to turn its head and fall, ultimately breaking down 40 percent for the first time on June 13. The percentage line has reached the three-digit mark. The 510th day of Biden’s presidency is June 13. On this day, Biden’s 538 comprehensive survey had a 39.7 percent approval rating, while Trump’s 538 comprehensive poll had a 510 percent approval rating. The approval rating is 41.8 percent, which is two points higher than that of Biden.
