This site is famous for being a source of hot water springs. Fikri’s grandfather refused to sell his land, even though a hotel chain made an offer of IDR 1 billion back in the day. (Imagine how much it would have been in today’s money!) He remained committed to his vision of keeping the springs free for the public to use. Ahsan/Hendra did not give a 100% performance because Ahsan sustained an injury to his calf during the Quarter Finals. However, he maintained his sporting spirit and congratulated Bagas/Fikri for their victory: “I don’t want to talk about my injuries. No matter what, they did play very well. They earned their victory. I hope that they remain consistent in their gameplay in the future, that they continue to work hard and not get complacent,” Ahsan said.

“They played well today – they kept on attacking and they rotated very quickly. I congratulate them on winning. We practice together with them every day, we know that they are qualified,” Hendra said.

Bagas/Fikri’s next battle will be in the Swiss Open. (rp)
