Jakarta, IO – Jetstar, an Australian low-cost airline, was denied permission to land at Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Bali, reported CNN Indonesia on Tuesday (27/12).

The incident reportedly happened due to miscommunication. Jetstar flight JQ35 was scheduled to fly from Melbourne and land in Denpasar at 1.25am WITA. However, it was delayed for five hours until it finally departed at around 11pm local time.

A Jetstar spokesperson responded to the news after speculation arose as to why the plane was refused to land. He said there was an internal miscommunication which resulted in the plane being forced to turn back.

“Initially we planned to change the Melbourne-to-Bali flight with a larger Boeing 787 aircraft to carry more passengers during the holiday season. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication, it was not approved by Indonesian regulator. The plane then returned to Melbourne. All passengers have been rebooked,” he explained.

He admitted the incident had frustrated the passengers. He apologized for the flight cancellation. As a compensation, Jetstar has provided the passengers with accommodation and meal vouchers.

“We will bear additional airport transportation costs,” he said. Jetstar assures the passengers that they can depart the following day, Wednesday (29/12), at around 4pm local time. (un)
