Jakarta, IO – Harun bin Senar, 119, affectionately known as Mbah Harun is Indonesia’s oldest haj pilgrim. He arrived at Medina’s Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport (AMAA) last weekend.

According to the Religious Affairs Ministry’s website, Monday (29/5), the grandfather from Pamekasan, Madura, East Java departed for Hajj with 449 other pilgrims in the flight group (kloter) 6.

Mbah Harun registered for hajj in 2017. He was actually scheduled for departure in 2046. However, because this year there is a priority quota for the elderly, he has the opportunity to go to the Holy Land. To pay for the cost, he sold his land.

Upon arrival, Mbah Harun was carried on a wheelchair by officer. This was part of the Elderly Friendly Hajj service implemented this year.

After he went through the immigration checkpoint, Mbah Harun underwent health examination by Indonesian health officers. He was declared physically and mentally fit and allowed to board the bus.
