ASEAN countries will mutually recognize each other’s Covid-19 vaccine certificates

Bali, IO – ASEAN countries have agreed to mutually recognize Covid-19 vaccine certificates issued by each other. The declaration of recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificate in all ASEAN countries is initiated by Indonesia as the chair of ASEAN Health Ministers (15th AHMM) Meeting to be held in Bali, May 11-15.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin assured that with the declaration, Indonesia’s vaccine certificates on PeduliLindungi application will be recognized and can be used to fulfill the requirements for vaccination document when traveling across ASEAN countries.

“With the mutual recognition of vaccine certificates, it is hoped that citizens of ASEAN member countries can travel safely to other ASEAN countries,” said Budi, according to the official website of the Health Ministry, Monday (16/5).

With the universal vaccine certificate verification mechanism among ASEAN countries, the process of verifying the authenticity of the certificate will be made much easier. Budi said this is expected to be a significant step to encourage collaboration in economic activities to restore business confidence, including tourism sector badly hit by the pandemic. (un)
