As heatwave hits Indonesia, know these symptoms

Jakarta, IO – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BKMG) stated that extreme weather event is hitting Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.

The Health Ministry (Kemenkes) asked the public to be aware of a number of symptoms due to unusually hot temperature in Indonesia in the next few days.

Kemenkes spokesperson Mohammad Syahril on Tuesday (25/4) pointed out seven symptoms that must be recognized and heeded by the public during hot weather, including excessive sweating, skin feeling hot and dry, a feeling of palpitations or that the heart is beating faster.

Also be aware if one’s skin looks pale, legs and abdomen cramps, nauseous, vomiting, and dizziness to low urine volume that appear dark yellow.

If these symptoms appear, ome should cool their body with a wet cloth or sponge on wrists, neck and other intertriginous areas and drink lots of water.

“If you still have symptoms, immediately visit the nearest health facility to get treatment,” explained Syahril.
