This great tea plantation is located right in the middle of the Trans-Sumatra Highway, which connects Jambi with West Sumatra. Anyone can stop by and take photos, or just take in the scenery with Mount Kerinci standing tall in the background. The Mountain itself shows a different visage when it is crowned with clouds or veiled with fog.

The Kayu Aro tea plantation lies in a quiet area. Not many vehicles pass by, which means that there is practically no air pollution. It has a cool temperature ranging from 17o to 23o Celsius, dropping to as low as 5o at night. Its cool, verdant view lasts all year long, making for a solemn territory where one can calm down and be released from weary routine.

There are several ways you can get to Kayu Aro. The closest is by starting from Sungai Penuh in Jambi, a mere 43 kilometer away for a trip of about 1 hour by car. If you head there from Jambi City at the other end of the province, it will take you 11 hours. Finally, you can get there from Padang by crossing the Regency of South Solok, West Sumatra, for a 5-hour trip.

Meanwhile, Mount Kerinci and surrounding areas are part of the Kerinci-Seblat National Park, a 1,484,650 hectare-natural preserve that covers four provinces in Sumatra, mostly located in Jambi Province. This mountain is part of the Bukit Barisan Mountain Range, which extends from the north to the south of Sumatra Island, and as the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra (TRHS), it was declared as a World Heritage Site by the WHO in 2006.
