Jakarta, IO – Chief of the Army Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman launched a book entitled “Loper Koran Jadi Jenderal” (Newspaper Boy Becomes a General). According to him, this memoir tells the story of his childhood and his struggles in life from being a newspaper delivery boy, a kelepon (boiled rice cake) seller to now becoming a four-star general in the Indonesian Army (TNI AD).

“This book also recounts the art of leadership in my military career and how I treat my subordinates, prioritize public interests over personal ones and how to make decisions,” said Gen. Dudung during a press conference for the book launching at the Army Headquarters, Friday (10/6).

He revealed that the book has been in preparation since he served as Governor of the Military Academy (Akmil) in 2018. He was then promoted to become Commander of the Jakarta Military Command (Pangdam Jaya) in 2020, Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) in 2021 and currently Chief of the Army Staff (KSAD).

“Initially, at the Military Academy, I came up with the idea to write a book about leadership, but when I met the author, Imelda Bactiar, I also told her about my life’s journey and struggles. She was interested, this is where the journey of writing this book began,” explained Dudung.
