Argentina wins the 2022 World Cup, grabs more than Rp600B prize money

Jakarta, IO – The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is finally over, with Argentina cruising to victory after defeating France in a penalty shootout with a score of 4-2, after the match tied with 3-3. The final was held at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Sunday (18/12). How much prize did Argentina receive?

The World Cup trophy was not the only prize that Argentina won. The country – nicknamed La Albiceleste – is also entitled to prize money worth US$42 million (Rp655.8 billion), larger than the previous World Cup, reported Detik, Monday (19/12).

FIFA has allocated a total of US$440 million (Rp6.87 trillion). National teams that lost on the Group Stage will get US$9 million (Rp140.5 billion); those that lost on the Knockout Stage will receive US$13 million (Rp 203 billion); while those eliminated in the quarterfinals will receive US$17 million (Rp265.4 billion).

Meanwhile, the runner-up will get US$30 million (Rp468.4 billion) while third and fourth place winners will earn US$27 million (Rp421.6 billion) and US$25 million (Rp390.3 billion), respectively. (rr)
