IO – Indonesian basketball legend Antonius Joko Endratmo comes forth as one of the speakers in the IBL Rookie Combine program, 9-11 October at The Hawks, BSD, Tangerang.

“I share knowledge and experiences so that young players are ready when they enter the world of professional basketball like IBL,” said Joko, a former Indonesian national player.

Joko stressed the importance of basic basketball skills for young players. “If the basic techniques are correct, it will be easier for them to go down in tight professional matches,” he said.

Joko applied patience and worked hard in training when he became a rookie. “I always patiently wait for my turn in a match, while continuing to train myself so that the skills and physics are always ready to improve. When it was my turn, my game did not disappoint and finally, I routinely got a minute play,” said Joko.

Participants in the rookie combine include 40 players from the Student League and prospective players who registered to the management of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi). They will be selected at the IBL Draft which will take place on November 13.

Joko is often a motivator or guide for young players. Previously he also accompanied the Streetball team competing in the international arena.

Besides Joko, other basketball legends who will share knowledge for the rookie are Andy “Batam” Poedjakesuma and Saut Lambok Jonson. Also, there are Jerry Lolowang, Wendha Wijaya, and Abraham Wenas. (rp)
