Jakarta, IO – Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the government continues to encourage the development of food bowl or food estates in a number of regions, from Sumatra to Papua. He said to date 60,000 ha has been developed in Central Kalimantan.
“The Agriculture Ministry has so far developed around 60,000 hectares, 30,000 ha in 2020, 14,000 ha in 2021 and 16,000 ha this year,” said Airlangga in an official statement, Tuesday (5/10).
He also said that President Joko Widodo has directed the Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) to build irrigation system and provide assistance in land management.
“The aim is that the Agriculture Ministry will be ready to start cultivating the land because the infrastructure has been in place,” said Airlangga.
