Jakarta, IO – Artificial intelligence (AI) programs such as ChatGPT are predicted to grow and have an impact on 300 million types of jobs. In fact, as many as 18 percent of these jobs could be fully computerized in the next decade, reported CNBC, Monday (3/4).

The research was conducted by Goldman Sachs in its report entitled “The Potentially Large Effects of Artificial Intelligence on Economic Growth.” Jobs in administration are considered to be at the highest risk of being replaced than manual jobs such as cleaning and maintenance workers, repairs, and construction work.

“If artificial intelligence delivers the capabilities it promises, the labor market could experience significant disruption. Worldwide, as many as 300 million jobs could be affected,” wrote Goldman Sachs.

The impact of AI will be more felt more by developed countries than developing countries. The research itself focuses on the US and Europe. It says about two-thirds of jobs today are vulnerable due to the advent of AI. About 18 percent of all types of jobs are completely in danger of being replaced.

“Jobs that are exposed to automation, most of their workload (25-50 percent) can be automated,” the report reads.

The study said that the countries that will be most affected by AI are Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Sweden, and the US. In contrast, workers in China, Nigeria, Vietnam, Kenya and India are the least likely to be taken over by AI.

Even though it seems threatening, AI is an inevitable part of technological advancement. Within a few decades, the use of AI is expected to drive labor productivity growth and increase global GDP by as much as 7 percent. (bp)
