Jakarta, IO – Democratic Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Chairman Agus “AHY” Harimurti Yudhoyono claimed the National Democratic Party (NasDem) has confided an opportunity for a coalition in the 2024 presidential election.

Agus said the Democratic Party and NasDem share the same vision and could welcome a potential coalition. Agus shared this statement after meeting NasDem Party General Chairman Surya Paloh at the Nasdem DPP office, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/29). “The two parties share the same ideological lines and long-term vision. So, we will start from that,” said AHY.

The young politician does not however want to rush, as each party has developed specific plans and stages to prepare for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Moreover, there are still two more years of uncertainty ahead.

Since the Democratic Party and NasDem share the same vision, Agus believes that it will be easier for the two parties if they indeed wish to build a coalition.

“We have clearly found more similarities than differences. We also have an identical vision and mission, which obviously will open up coalition opportunities,” AHY remarked.

AHY said he had wanted to meet Surya Paloh for a long time, and he regarded him as a senior politician. He would like to learn from Paloh and discuss current political issues. “We would like to learn from him and get some insights about Indonesia today and in the future,” said Agus.

AHY and a number of Democratic Party DPP officials visited the NasDem DPP office in Cikini, Jakarta on Tuesday (3/29). Democratic Party DPP Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono was accompanied by Secretary-General Teuku Riefky Harsya, Benny K. Harman and Herman Khaeron. NasDem General Chairman Surya Paloh was joined by Willy Aditya, Ahmad Sahroni and several other committee members. (des)
