Again, Indonesian citizen shot dead in the U.S., body found in parking lot

Jakarta, IO – A long-time Indonesia-origin US permanent resident was shot on Saturday (5/11) at 7:20 p.m. local time in the parking lot of a shopping center in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, about six hours from New York, Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in New York said, reported Detik on Friday (11/11).

“The victim was found dead when the police arrived,” said KJRI consul Oki Yanuar. “Based on police investigation, the shooting was not an indiscriminate mass shooting but an isolated and targeted attack on the Indonesian citizen.”

The perpetrator has been arrested. But so far, there is yet any information about the motive of the shooting. “We are still waiting for further information about the police from the Westmoreland Police,” said Oki, adding that the body will be repatriated to Indonesia since the medical examination process has been completed.

“The body has been picked up by the deceased’s family in the U.S. after it was released by the medical examiner. Currently, KJRI is waiting for flight confirmation. Hopefully by Sunday or Monday the body can arrive in Jakarta,” concluded Oki. (rr)
