Jakarta, IO – Bali International Airshow resumed after almost 30 years of hiatus. Inaugurated by the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, this exhibition is a symbol of Indonesia’s openness and the demonstration of the development of the aviation industry in the country.
“Bali International Airshow 2024 proves our resilience to compete and become a leading player in the global aerospace industry. I also underlined our efforts to chart a brighter and more sustainable future for the aviation sector,” Luhut said in an official press statement, Wednesday (18/9).
Furthermore, he said that improving Indonesia’s aerospace sector is very important for economic and social progress. Almost 1,000 people attended the opening ceremony, including delegates from more than 20 countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Timor Leste, South Korea, Australia, India, the United States, Japan, New Zealand, China, Papua New Guinea, and Turkey.
“Our investment in the aviation sector will ensure smooth connectivity, encourage trade in goods and services, drive the tourism sector and advanced economic growth, and more importantly, as a country with strategic geopolitical interests, the strength of the aerospace industry will determine our defense readiness in maintaining national sovereignty and maintaining regional stability,” he added.
This event was also marked by the signing of the Bali International Airshow Letter of Intent (LOI) between the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Ministry (Kemenkomarves), Transportation Ministry, Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Defense Ministry, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney), Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and PT Inaro Tujuh Belas.
Through the LOI, Kemenkomarves proposed the establishment of cooperation agreement between relevant stakeholders in order to realize Indonesia’s mission in advancing technology, innovation, and tourism. Moving forward, the Bali International Airshow will become a biennial event in Indonesia, held every odd year.

The exhibition spans an area of 78,000 square meters, with a static aircraft display area of 70,000 square meters and an exhibition space of 8,000 square meters. Participants include Airbus, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, Brahmos, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Garuda Group, Leonardo (represented by Helitech Asia), Lion Air, MBDA, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Textron Aviation, and Thales.
The airshow will be open to the public on Saturday, September 21. Aviation enthusiasts and the general public can purchase public day ticket which costa Rp165,000 at Loket.com and round-trip shuttle bus ticket which costs Rp111,000. (bp)
