Also Available: Ramen Noodles and…Taichan Satay…?!
Like a lot of other sushi places, Sushi Murmer also has ramen noodles in its menu. I decided to try their beef ramen – a good choice for that cold, rainy Jakarta afternoon. My bowl of ramen contained chewy noodles, as well as savory slices of beef, carrot, cabbage, nori seaweed, and half a hard-boiled egg, with a sprinkling of white sesame seeds. The broth is flavorful and the meat is tender. Like I said, it suits the Indonesian palate. Even better, they also serve a small dish of cabai rawit slices that you can add to your bowl however you like.
Surprisingly they also serve taichan satay here. It’s grilled chicken skewers seasoned only with salt and a squeeze of kaffir lime, unlike traditional satay that’s served drizzled with peanut or sweet soy sauce. They have original taichan satay, mentai taichan, mozzarella taichan, and sambal matah taichan here. I decided to take the original, no- topping taichan. It was served with small dishes of sambal and spiced salt on the side. It’s a good satay – tender, savory, with no gamy smell and just the right level of saltiness for my taste.
Wondering where Sushi Murmer is? Go straight to Jl. TB. Simatupang No. 4 RT 8/RW 5, Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta. This clean, cozy diner serves all halal foods, and they provide you with musala to pray in to boot. (Nurvita Indarini)
