7 foreign nationals reported missing during a nature expedition at Halmahera

Jakarta, IO – Seven foreign nationals went missing during a jungle expedition at Halmahera, Wednesday (16/11) at 17.10 WIT. Head of Ternate’s search and rescue agency (Basarda) Fathur Rahman said a search and rescue operation has been launched.

The group consisted of seven foreign nationals and two local residents. Basarda was alerted by a travel agent requesting evacuation assistance at around 17.30 WIT. They immediately conducted a search covering a 2-km forested area to the south from the location where the missing individuals’ belongings found, along the Tongole River.

The two local residents, Aris Adipati (72) and Nonco Kalangi (66), have been found in a weak condition. They were taken to Chasan Boeseorie Hospital for medical treatment, reported Antara, Thursday (17/11). (un)
