Jakarta, IO – Besides being endowed with extraordinary natural beauty, Indonesia is also one of the best surfing destinations in the world that promises to give you an adrenaline rush. In fact, several of the country’s best surfing spots have been included in the annual calendar of international surfing championships.
These are the six best surfing spots in Indonesia, according to the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (10/9).
- Sorake Beach, Nias
Sorake Beach in Nias, North Sumatra takes the crown of the best surfing spot in Indonesia. This beach has just witnessed agility of world surfers in the World Surf League (WSL) Nias Pro 2022 event, which was held from June 23-29 this year. The main draw of Sorake Beach Nias is the rolling waves that almost reach the shoreline, approximately up to 200 meters, which can be hardly found on other beaches in the world. This allows surfers to ride the waves at Sorake Beach longer. The challenge is also heightened with the waves that can reach 3-5 meters.
- Plengkung Beach, Banyuwangi
The famous parts of Plengkung Beach in Banyuwangi is called G-land. In fact, G-land is said to be one of the best surfing spots in the world, after Hawaii. It offers rolling waves as high as 6-8 meters, with intervals of up to five minutes. No wonder G-land often hosts world-class surfing competitions, like the recent World Surf League Championship Tour (WSLCT) in June.
