3 Indonesians killed in traffic accident in Sydney

Jakarta, IO – Three Indonesians died after their car collided with a cement truck in Southwest Sydney, Monday (13/3) at around 11.20 am local time on the Hume Highway in Menangle Park, Macarthur region, reported CNN Indonesia, Thursday (16/3).

The victims were a mother named Katrina Sila, 34, and her children Kai, 1, and Ivy, 3 months. Katrina and Kai died on the scene while Ivy died on Wednesday (15/3) from serious injuries after being rushed to a hospital in Westmead.

The 48-year-old truck driver was not injured but still taken to hospital for a mandatory medical examination.

According to local police, the SUV driven by Katrina was making a U-turn via the emergency lane on the Hume Highway on her way back to her home in Denham Court before the collision happened.

At the time of the accident, Katrina’s husband Ian Prahastono was at his office. He knew the tragic accident happened through his Apple Watch which has a crash detection capability. (un)
