Jakarta, 27 February 2019The 15th year celebration of one of the biggest jazz festival, Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival (BNI JJF) will begin in 2 days. Lots of collaborations between artists has been prepared. Both collaborations between musicians from Indonesia and collaboration with international musicians are all united on the stage of the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019 which is in line with this year’s mission, “Music Unites Us All”. BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019 is expected to be the place where Java Jazz Goers can broaden their horizon in jazz music and its descendant that are not usually explored.

“The 15-year celebration that has been eagerly awaited is getting closer, F & B tenants and sponsors’ booths have been built, we also have prepared 11 stages and international artists have started to arrive. Special Collaboration in the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019
Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019 is the place for artists to present unique performances such as collaborations. This year’s collaborations are:

  • BNI Music Project where Andien, Audrey Singgih, Aqi Singgih, Radhini, Rendy Pandugo, Teddy Adhitya will perform with Ron King Horn Section
  • Collaboration between Addie MS & Twilite Orchestra with Lea Simanjutak and GRAMMY award winner artist, Bob James who will perform Gershwin’s songs.
  • Tohpati who will perform with Sheila Majid in full band format with acoustic concept
  • Dewa Budjana who will be accompanied by a bassist from India, Mohini Dey and Indonesian singer Soimah
  • Harvey Malaihollo who will play with Ashira Zamita, Mikha Tambayong and Yotari in 1 stage together and sing Motown
  • Collaboration between the fresh young artist Nima Ilayla and Michael Manson
  • Collaboration project of MLDJAZZPROJECT Season 1-3 with Adrian Khaif, Adikara Fardy and Iwa K
  • Sony Music Project, a project consisting of Jaz, Ardhito Pramono and Rendy Pandugo
  • Warner Music Project which filled with young artists such as Andini, Hanin Dhiya, Rahmania Astrini and Trisouls
  • Yamaha Music Project, a project where Rossa, Is Pusakata and Rinni Wulandari will perform songs arranged by Ronald Steven.

 

Tributes to the legends in the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019
Other than unique collaborations, BNI Java Jazz Festival is a platform where artists can pay a tribute to another artists. This year’s tributes are:

  • Barry Likumahuwa Tribute to Roy Hargrove

The jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove have left us in late 2018 and leave marks in jazz lovers’ heart. Java Jazz Goers who have watched his show back in 2010 were lucky enough to watch him perform live. In this 15 year celebration of Java Jazz, the talented bassist Barry Likumahuwa will perform a tribute for Hargrove.

  • Harvey Mason “A Tribute to Aretha” featuring Dira Sugandi

The American jazz drummer, Harvey Mason will perform Aretha Franklin’s songs in the 15th anniversary of Java Jazz Festival with Dira Sugandi. This is a one of a kind and one of the must watch collaboration in BNI Java Jazz Festival this year.

  • Tribute to Dian Pramana Poetra (Deddy Dhukun, Dewi Gita, Dwiki Dharmawan, Ita Purnamasari, Mus Mujiono, Trie Utami & Dian HP, Vina Panduwinata, Yuni Shara and Yopi Latul)

Indonesia lost one of its finest artist, Dian Pramana Poetra, an artist with hit singles such as “Masih Ada” and “Biru”. In BNI Java Jazz Festival 2019 his friends will pay a tribute and perform his songs in a hope to preserve his work to younger generation.

The Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival will take place for 3 days starting from Friday, 1 March 2019 to Sunday, 3 March 2019 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
