Jakarta, IO – Sie Kong Lian’s boarding house is located at 106 Kramat Street. The white building with a colonial-era architecture is witness to the rise of Indonesian youths who came together to declare the Youth Pledge on October 28, 1928. In this house, the national anthem Indonesia Raya was first played by WR Soepratman using a violin.

After Independence, Prof. Mr. Sunario sent a letter to then Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin requesting that Sie Kong Lian’s house be designated as historic building.
