Jakarta, IO – As many as 1,000 cars have been rented by the government ahead of the 79th Independence Day commemoration at the new administrative capital Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

Chairman of the Regional Car Rental Entrepreneurs Association (Asperda) of East Kalimantan, Damun Kiswanto, stated that the State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) said the cars were rented to transport state guests and VVIPs.

“We and Kemensetneg signed a memorandum of understanding for the procurement of 1,000 cars for the independence day celebration,” said Damun, per Kompas, Mon (5/8).

To meet these needs, Damun said that his association had to add car units from outside the region due to the limited number of rental car units in the area.

“The car units were brought in from Surabaya, Jakarta, Sidoarjo, Semarang, Solo, Makassar, Bali, and Palu, and were on their way to East Kalimantan,” he explained.
