1 dead, 3 missing in police helicopter crash

Jakarta, IO – A helicopter belonging to the National Police’s Defense and Security Agency (Baharkam) reportedly crashed in East Belitung, Bangka Belitung, Sunday (11/27).

Two helicopters with registration numbers NBO 105/P-1103 and NBO 105/P-1113 initially flew from Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan at 11 a.m. WIB to Tanjung Pandan, Bangka Belitung Islands, reported Kompas, Monday (28/11).

P-1113 decided to change course to avoid bad weather, while P-1103 stayed on course. After that, the crew of P-1113 attempted to contact P-1103, but received no response. State-owned air navigation firm AirNav Indonesia also did not receive any news regarding the whereabouts of P-1103. It was declared lost contact above Bukulimau Island, East Belitung.

Bangka Belitung Police spokesperson Chief Commissioner Maladi said the helicopter carried four personnel, namely Chief Inspector Arif Rahman Saleh (Captain), First Brigadier Lasminto, Second Sub-Inspector Joko M, and 2nd Brigadier Anam.
